Solicitors in Sussex
Sussex is a historic county in South East England, corresponding with the ancient Kingdom of Sussex. It shares boundaries with Surrey to its north, Kent to the east and Hampshire in the west. It is a coastal county, and has a long stretch of the south coast onto the English Channel. It is divided into three authority areas, West Sussex, East Sussex and the City of Brighton and Hove. Other notable urban areas include the city of Chichester, Hastings, Lewes and Eastbourne. Sussex is home to well over 1.5m inhabitants, of which around 250,000 live in the city of Brighton.
Sussex has been and is a largely rural county, and although agriculture has played a strong historical role, today it employs fewer than 2% of the area’s workforce. Fishing is still conducted off the Sussex coast although this is much less than in previous decades, there are working harbours at Rye, Hastings, Newhaven and Shoreham.
Modern industry is dominated by tourism and higher education, but much of the income for the region is from commuters who travel from Sussex to London for work, benefiting from the excellent local transport links.
