Solicitors in Bridgend

Bridgend, or Pen-y-bont ar Ogwr in Welsh, is an important market town to the West of Cardiff lying between the River Ogmore and the River Ewenny. The settlement is believed to date back to before Roman times, but much of the local history begins in that period as the town made a useful stopping point on the way to or from the Roman harbour at Neath.

As well as being an agricultural centre, Bridgend thrived for over two hundred years with revenue generated by the coal fields situated nearby in the South Wales Valleys. However as it had no coal reserves of its own, the area was quick to recover from the demise of coal in the late 1980’s with the economy rapidly diversifying into manufacturing and services. The Ford plant at Bridgend has recently received major reinvestment, and is largely considered one of the best engine production facilities in the world. The area has a growing tourism trade, acting as a hub for tourists looking to explore the heritage coast and nearby South Wales Valleys.
