What can a certified mediator help with?

A certified mediator can help with a variety of types of disputes, including family and employment disputes. For example, if you have a dispute with your employer that can’t be resolved via your company’s normal complaints or grievance procedures, you can use the services of a certified mediator. Mediators are independent third parties that can help resolve the issues you have with your employer. Note that you can’t be forced to use mediation by your boss; using the services of a certified mediator is completely voluntary and you and your employer must both agree to use mediation services to resolve your dispute.

You should try to contact a certified mediator to help with your dispute as soon as possible. A certified mediator can usually be more effective the earlier in your dispute they become involved.

Certified mediators are registered with the Civil Mediation Council which covers certified mediators in England and Wales. If you are in Scotland, you can contact the Scottish Mediation Network. And in Northern Ireland you can locate a certified mediator at Mediation Northern Ireland.

Sometimes your mediation will touch on a legal aspect of your employment.
