Personal injury company
Despite the generic nature of the term ‘company’ these days, it is actually quite unusual for a group of personal injury solicitors to set themselves up as a personal injury company. Traditionally, a group of solicitors will set themselves up as a partnership or more recently, a Limited Liability Partnership (LLP). However, it is becoming more common for some firms to set themselves up as a company. Personal injury law has been through a lot of changes in the past few years, mostly due to changes in funding, and it is now increasingly common to find personal injury companies that specialise in only that area of law. Realistically, it is likely to make no difference to you what form the firm takes.
If you have suffered a personal injury and you think it may be someone else’s fault, you should contact a firm of personal injury solicitors who will be able to help you with your claim. Your solicitor will help to gather evidence to show whose fault the accident was and how much (if any) you should be awarded in compensation. Your solicitor will also talk and write to the defendant on your behalf and will attempt to negotiate a settlement to avoid going to court.
Whether you chose a personal injury company, partnership or LLP, it is important that you contact them quickly immediately following the accident. The reason for this is that the personal injury solicitor may require evidence that might disappear after some time. For example, if you were involved in a crash and, whether or not the police have already done so, your solicitor may wish to instruct a crash scene investigator. If you leave it too long following the crash you may find this evidence no longer there.
