Motorcycle accident

Motorcycles are a popular mode of transport, providing greater manoeuvrability and freedom than cars. However, they also come with a greater risk of accident, and greater risk of injury when accidents do occur. A motorcycle accident can result in serious injuries, often when the rider is thrown from the motorcycle or crushed by their motorcycle. Such injuries can have serious immediate and future physical, emotional and financial costs. Motorcycle accidents can also result in expensive damage to your motorcycle and equipment.

It can be difficult to determine who was at fault in a motorcycle accident, as a common perception is that the accident happened out of nowhere, due to poor visibility of motorcyclists. If you have been involved in a motorcycle accident and you don’t think that it was your fault, you may wish to speak to a specialist motorcycle accident solicitor.

If the motorcycle accident was at least partly because of another road user’s negligent driving, you may be able to claim compensation. Road users owe a duty of care to all road users, including other car drivers, motorcyclists, cyclists, passengers and pedestrians. If you were involved in a motorcycle accident where the other driver was negligent, for example, if they failed to keep a proper lookout for you, or failed to give way to you, you may be able to claim compensation.

Motorcyclists are particularly vulnerable to accidents caused by environmental and road factors such as defects in the road, unmarked hazards and oil spills. If your motorcycle accident was caused by factors such as these that were out of the control of you or the other road user, you may have a claim against the local authority. You would need to be able to establish that they should have been aware of the danger and failed in their duty to do something about it. Such claims are more difficult to prove, and you would need to speak to a specialist motorcycle accident solicitor.
