Accidents, injury and compensation

There are many types of accidents that you could have. If you have been involved in accidents, injury has resulted and you don’t believe it was your fault then you could be eligible for compensation. To bring a successful case for compensation, you must prove that the other party involved in the accidents you want to claim for were negligent. For example if you picked up an injury after being involved in a road accident, you have to prove that the other driver was at fault in some way.

Injury and accidents are governed by the rules of tort. Tort is an area of the law that tries to attach a value to the suffering and loss you have as a result of any accidents that happen to you. Note that tort law is not a way of making yourself better off than you are at the moment. Any compensation payment you receive will be carefully calculated based on the accidents and injury you received, using past accidents as guidance for levels of payment.

As accidents can come in many forms and no two people’s injuries will be the same, it is important to have fully qualified legal support throughout your case. Initially, your solicitor can assess your case and let you know if they think your case is strong enough to obtain the level of compensation you are looking for.
